The Paradigm Shift: Reprogramming Your Subconscious for Wealth

Bob Proctor's proven method for changing the unconscious patterns that control 95% of your behavior.

"If you want to change your life, you have to change your paradigm. And to change your paradigm, you have to reprogram your subconscious mind." — Bob Proctor

Bob Proctor spent 50+ years studying the science of success and wealth creation. His conclusion? Your results are determined by your paradigm—the collection of unconscious beliefs and habits that control 95% of your behavior.

Most people try to change their results by changing their actions. But that's like trying to change the reflection in a mirror by touching the glass.

To change your results, you have to change your paradigm.

What Is a Paradigm?

A paradigm is a mental program—a set of unconscious beliefs, habits, and thought patterns that were installed in your subconscious mind between ages 0-7.

These programs run automatically, below your conscious awareness, and they control:

  • How much money you think you deserve
  • What you believe is possible for you
  • How you react to opportunities
  • Your relationship with risk and uncertainty
  • Your self-image and identity

Your paradigm is why you keep getting the same results, even when you try different strategies.

The Stickperson Model

Proctor's famous "Stickperson" diagram illustrates how your mind works:

The Conscious Mind (Top Circle)

This is your thinking mind. It can:

  • Accept or reject ideas
  • Make decisions
  • Set goals
  • Use logic and reason

Your conscious mind is where you experience free will.

The Subconscious Mind (Bottom Circle)

This is your feeling mind. It:

  • Stores all your beliefs and memories
  • Controls your automatic behaviors
  • Cannot reject ideas (it accepts everything as true)
  • Runs your paradigm

Your subconscious mind is 1 million times more powerful than your conscious mind. It controls 95% of your behavior.

The Body (Bottom Rectangle)

Your body is the instrument of your mind. It takes action based on the instructions from your subconscious mind.

The flow: Thoughts (conscious) → Feelings (subconscious) → Actions (body) → Results

Why Willpower Doesn't Work

Most people try to change their results through willpower—forcing themselves to take different actions.

But willpower is a conscious mind function. And your conscious mind only controls 5% of your behavior.

That's why New Year's resolutions fail. You consciously decide to save money, but your subconscious paradigm says "money is scarce" or "I'm not good with money." The subconscious always wins.

The Terror Barrier

When you try to do something outside your paradigm, you hit what Proctor calls the "Terror Barrier"—an intense fear that stops you in your tracks.

Examples:

  • You want to start a business, but you're paralyzed by fear
  • You want to invest, but you're terrified of losing money
  • You want to charge premium prices, but you feel guilty

The Terror Barrier isn't real danger—it's your paradigm trying to keep you in your comfort zone.

Most people retreat when they hit the Terror Barrier. Winners push through it.

How to Reprogram Your Paradigm

You can't change your paradigm through logic or willpower. You have to reprogram your subconscious mind through repetition and emotion.

Step 1: Identify Your Current Paradigm

Ask yourself:

  • What do I believe about money?
  • What do I believe I deserve?
  • What do I believe is possible for me?
  • What were my parents' beliefs about money?

Your current results are a perfect reflection of your current paradigm.

Step 2: Choose Your New Paradigm

Decide what you want to believe instead. Write it as a present-tense affirmation:

  • "I am worthy of wealth and abundance."
  • "Money flows to me easily and naturally."
  • "I create massive value and I'm compensated accordingly."

Step 3: Repetition with Emotion

Your subconscious mind learns through repetition and emotional intensity.

The practice:

  • Read your affirmations out loud twice per day (morning and night)
  • Visualize yourself living as if they're already true
  • Feel the emotions of already having what you want

Do this for 90 days minimum. Your paradigm will begin to shift.

Step 4: Act As If

Start taking actions that align with your new paradigm, even if you don't feel ready.

If your new paradigm is "I am a wealthy person," ask yourself: "What would a wealthy person do in this situation?"

Then do that—even if it scares you.

The Vibration/Frequency Principle

Proctor taught that everything is energy vibrating at different frequencies. Your thoughts create a vibration, and that vibration attracts matching circumstances.

When you think thoughts of abundance, you vibrate at the frequency of abundance. And you attract abundant circumstances.

When you think thoughts of scarcity, you vibrate at the frequency of scarcity. And you attract scarce circumstances.

This isn't woo-woo. It's quantum physics.

The Paradigm Shift Timeline

Changing your paradigm doesn't happen overnight. Here's the typical timeline:

  • Days 1-30: You feel resistance. Your old paradigm fights back. This is normal.
  • Days 31-60: You start noticing small shifts. New opportunities appear. Coincidences happen.
  • Days 61-90: The new paradigm starts to feel natural. Your actions align with your new beliefs.
  • 90+ days: Your results begin to change. Your external reality reflects your internal shift.

The Bottom Line

Your paradigm is the invisible force controlling your financial results. Until you change it, you'll keep getting the same outcomes—no matter how hard you work or how many strategies you try.

But when you reprogram your subconscious mind, everything changes. Not because the world changed, but because you changed.

And when you change, your results change automatically.
